Barbara era coricata ai piedi del suo letto, immersa nella meravigliosa bellezza del cielo stellato che poteva contemplare dalla finestra della sua stanzetta. Non troppo tempo prima, insieme alla sua famiglia si era trasferita dalla città inquinata di New York nelle foreste del Maine settentrionale. Era difficile dormire, pensando che le sarebbe potuta scappare un'altra stella cadente. Il fatto di poter VEDERE le stelle — lontana dalle luci brillanti della città — era qualcosa che le riempiva il cuore di meraviglia e stupore.
“Da dove NASCONO tutte queste stelle? Ci sono già STATE TUTTE quante? Come mai non le ho mai VISTE prima? La luna è SEMPRE stata così brillante?” Mille domande le balenavano in mente come stelle scoppiettanti. Decise di rimanere sveglia tutta la notte, per poter veder sorgere il sole estivo all’orizzonte, la mattina seguente.
**UNA SCINTILLA NEL BUIO**
Una volta non esistevano stelle, né luna, né sole — e nemmeno la TERRA. Non c'era neanche un barlume di luce. Tutto era buio — così buio che si poteva quasi PALPARLO, semmai ci fosse stata qualcosa da SENTIRE. Eh sì, perché non c'era proprio niente lì. Era tutto vuoto — COSI' vuoto che niente poteva toccare niente. Così vuoto che non si poteva sentire neanche un SUONO, nemmeno un bisbiglio. Perché lì non c'era nessuno…a parte DIO. E FU ALLORA che tutto ebbe inizio — molto, MOLTO tempo fa.
La Bibbia ci dice: “Nel principio Dio creò il cielo e la terra” e fece esattamente così.
Il primo suono che si udì fu quando Dio aperse la bocca quel primo giorno e disse: “CI SIA LA LUCE.” Non appena pronunciò queste parole, ci fu un lampo luminoso e tutte le tenebre scapparono in un angolo. Dio vide che questo era buono. Doveva essere VERAMENTE felice…ma non abbastanza. Perché fu allora che Egli decise di separare la luce dalle tenebre, chiamando la luce “giorno” e le tenebre “notte.” E così finì il primo giorno.
Lui sapeva come sarebbe stato difficile avere luce SEMPRE, perciò decise che le tenebre sarebbero durate una PARTE del tempo — la notte —e per questo ci risulta facile dormire.
**Ma Dio non aveva ancora finito.**
Il secondo giorno, Dio disse: “Ci sia il cielo” e… oh, quant’era BELLO! C’era il giorno e c’era la notte, ed ora c’era pure un magnifico cielo blu. Ma Dio non aveva ancora finito. Sapete perché? Perché ovunque guardavi, non c’era altro che acqua. Il giorno, la notte, il cielo e l’acqua erano BELLISSIMI…
**Ma Dio voleva QUALCOSA IN PIÙ.**
erciò il terzo giorno, la Bibbia dice che Dio riunì tutte le acque in un solo posto. E disse agli oceani, “Voi state qui.” E sapete una cosa? Loro Gli ubbidirono! E ai fiumi disse, “Voi rimanete qui.” E loro ubbidirono. E ai laghi disse, “Rimanete in questo posto.” E anch'essi Gli ubbidirono.
Riuscite ad immaginarvi cosa sarebbe accaduto se NON gli avessero ubbidito? Ci sarebbe stato un CAOS incredibile! Le cose sarebbero galleggiate dove non ce lo saremmo aspettato e ovunque ci saremmo girati, un'onda ci avrebbe potuti affondare. Sono così contenta che le acque abbiano ubbidito a Dio, e voi?
E Dio chiamò la terra asciutta “terra” e le acque “mari.” Così ora c'era il giorno e la notte,
**ed un magnifico cielo blu,**
**e c'erano oceani, fiumi e laghi.**
Dio vide che il terzo giorno era buono. Sicuramente sarà stato MOLTO contento…ma non abbastanza. Perché fu allora che creò l'erba, le piante e gli alberi da frutto con i semi dentro, che avrebbero potuto fare ALTRE piante ed altri alberi da frutto. Alcune piante ed alcuni alberi li creò solo per bellezza. Altri avrebbero portato dei frutti buoni da mangiare.
La maggior parte delle piante crebbero IN SU' —come mele, pere, mais e broccoli. Altre piante crebbero IN GIU —come le patate, i tuberi le carote. Altre ancora crebbero DI FIANCO —come i cetrioli, i meloni e le zucchine. E Dio fu MOLTO contento di tutto ciò che aveva fatto quel terzo giorno.
Così adesso c'era il giorno e c'era la notte, e c'era un magnifico cielo azzurro, poi c'erano oceani e fiumi e laghi, e c'erano erba, piante ed alberi.
**Ma non era ANCORA finita!**
**C'era altro lavoro da fare!**
Il quarto giorno, Dio disse, “Ci siano luci in cielo che separino il giorno dalla notte, e l'estate dall'inverno, la primavera e l'autunno, e i giorni e gli anni.” E sapete cosa? Avvenne esattamente così! Proprio come Dio aveva detto.
Dio aveva creato due luci veramente ENORMI. Quella più grande l’aveva chiamata “sole,” e doveva brillare il giorno, e quella più piccola l’aveva chiamata “luna” e doveva brillare la notte. Egli creò anche le stelle e le mise esattamente dove più gli piacque. Dio mise tutte queste bellissime luci nel cielo, per far luce sulla terra. Il sole illumina la terra durante il giorno, e la luna e le stelle la illuminano di notte.
**E Dio vide che ciò era buono.**
Così adesso c'era il giorno e c'era la notte, e c'era un magnifico cielo azzurro; c'erano oceani, fiumi e laghi, c'erano erba, piante ed alberi, e c'era il sole, la luna e le stelle.
La prossima volta che vedi brillare una stella in cielo, fermati e pensa a questo: Dio ha messo quel barlume nel buio per farci ricordare quant'è importante ubbidirGli come fanno le stelle.
