Un pomeriggio di fine giugno Giovanni, Samuele, e Carlo stavano tornando a casa da scuola. Samuele pensava a quanto si sarebbero divertiti perché loro volevano giocare a pallone nella campagna vicina. Nel frattempo, Giovanni chiese a Carlo di dargli il videogioco che aveva appena ricevuto per il suo compleanno.
Carlo disse, “No! Tu non puoi prendere il mio nuovo regalo!”, “Però, se ai tuoi genitori non dispiace, puoi venire e giocare con me” aggiunse allegramente.
Allora Giovanni disse a voce più alta, “Io non voglio giocare con te. Io lo voglio per me!”
“Forse la tua mamma te ne comprerà uno per il tuo compleanno.”
“Ma io lo voglio ora!” disse Giovanni. Con questo, colpì con forza la cartella di Carlo.
Carlo iniziò a piangere, mentre guardava Giovanni che tirava fuori il videogioco dalla cartella. Poi Giovanni gettò a terra la cartella, e girò l'angolo dove aspettava Carlo per poterlo prendere.
Quando Carlo girò l'angolo, Giovanni lo buttò a terra e disse, “Ora, non pensi che sarebbe più facile cooperare?” Giovanni se n'andò via e tornò a casa, come se niente fosse successo.
Samuele guardò dietro con orrore. Si sedette sopra il guardrail e pensò cosa fare.
Nel frattempo, alcuni bambini dell'altro vicinato vennero avanti. Paolo andò nell'angolo e trovò un'altra via per casa. Michele girò e non disse nulla. Ma Samuele sapeva che questa strada non era giusta. Corse verso Carlo, raccolse la sua cartella e lo aiutò a tornare a casa.
Quando arrivarono a casa di Carlo, Samuele gli chiese di andare a giocare a pallone con lui al campo. Da soli se la spassarono e si divertirono molto!
Il giorno dopo a scuola, tutti chiesero a Samuele perché era carino con Carlo. Samuele replicò, “Io faccio ciò che penso sia giusto. Non era giusto lasciarlo solo e ferito, quando io potrò lo aiuterò, anche se lui sta nel vicinato solo da un po' di settimane, e noi siamo qui da molto tempo.”
Un giorno un avvocato venne a Gesù e gli chiese, “Che cosa devo fare per ottenere il paradiso?”
Gesù rispose, “Che cosa dice la legge?”
“Ama il Signore con tutto il tuo cuore, con tutta la tua anima, con tutta la tua forza e con tutta la tua mente; e il prossimo tuo come te stesso,” disse l'avvocato.
“è giusto,” disse Gesù. “Se tu fai tutto ciò, potrai entrare in paradiso.”
Ma l'avvocato disse, pensando ad una domanda alla quale Gesù non avrebbe saputo rispondere: “Ma chi è il mio prossimo?”
Gesù gli rispose raccontandogli questa storia:
Un giorno, un uomo che stava lavorando lontano dalla città, improvvisamente s'imbattè in un gruppo di ladri. I ladri presero tutto ciò che lui aveva, e poi lo picchiarono e lo abbandonarono disteso quasi morto al margine della strada.
Mentre era disteso con dolore e povertà, sentì dei passi: “Ah! Sta venendo qualcuno!” pensò. “Spero che mi aiuti… Spero che non sia uno degli uomini che mi hanno picchiato, che ritornano a vedere se io sono morto.” Aspettò e ascoltò per un paio d'ore, mentre i passi scomparivano nella distanza.
Successe che ci fu un sacerdote che passò vicino, ma quando vide l'uomo coricato accanto alla strada, decise di prendere una strada diversa perché aveva fretta e non voleva importunarlo.
Il povero uomo fu certamente felice che non fosse uno dei ladri, ma sicuramente sperava che QUALCUNO lo avrebbe aiutato.
Dopo un po' di tempo, sentì nuovamente dei passi…. Voleva chiamarlo e attirare l'attenzione dell'uomo che camminava lì vicino, ma aveva tanto dolore, e tutto ciò che poteva fare era lamentarsi. “Forse questa persona mi vedrà e mi riconoscerà” pensò allora ansiosamente.
L'uomo che questa volta stava passando era un levita, un maestro ben noto nel tempio. SICURAMENTE LUI avrebbe potuto aiutare quel povero uomo. Ma quando vide l'uomo che giaceva ai bordi della strada, guardò in basso … Poi girò la testa … Gli camminò vicino, ignorando completamente il poverino, addolorando ancor di più l'uomo.
Non passò molto tempo che l'uomo sentì altri passi. Volle credere che questa persona sarebbe venuta subito ad aiutarlo, ma era già passato qualcuno per due volte e non ebbe neppure la speranza di un soccorso. Dopo ciò, arrese tutta la speranza ed era certo di morire onestamente lì ai bordi della strada.
L'uomo che questa volta stava attraversando la strada era un estraneo della Samaria. Proprio a nessuno piaceva la gente della Samaria. Ed era molto improbabile che avrebbe voluto aiutarlo. Ma mentre passava, egli notò l'uomo che giaceva percosso e sanguinante al margine della strada. Provò dispiacere per lui e volle aiutarlo. Scese dal suo asino e piegato a terra vicino l'uomo diede un rigoroso sguardo alle ferite.
Gentilmente, coprì con delle fasce le ferite e lo aiutò ad alzarsi. POI … mise attentamente l'uomo proprio sul suo cavallo, e lo portò al più vicino hotel. Restò con lui tutta la notte e si prese cura di lui.
La mattina seguente doveva partire, ma sapeva che non avrebbe potuto portar l'uomo con sé. Quando pagò il conto, diede al locandiere dei soldi in più, dicendogli “Prenditi cura di lui, nutrilo, e dagli tutto ciò di cui ha bisogno. Se ti dovrà qualcosa, prima che lui stia bene, segnalo, pagherò il conto la prossima volta che verrò.”
Gesù, dopo aver finito la storia, chiese all'avvocato, “Quale di questi tre uomini si avvicinò allo straniero sulla strada?”
L'avvocato timidamente rispose, “Quello che si fermò e lo aiutò.”
E Gesù rispose, “Giusto. Ora TU vai e fa così.”
PENSA!
1. Quante persone passarono vicino l'uomo ferito?
2. Quante persone si fermarono e aiutarono l'uomo ferito?
3. Il Samaritano come mostrò la sua gentilezza all'uomo ferito?
4. Chi è il tuo prossimo?RICORDA:
Amare Dio significa anche amare tutti.
